| Abstract: | Superconducting nanowire single photon detectors (SNSPD) provide >90% and timing jitter <20% but require cryogenic temperature. SPAD’s are capable of detection at room temperature but due to the trade off between timing jitter and detection efficiency SPAD’s performance metrics is compromised. To solve this issue a SPAD architecture based on ultra-thin crystalline silicon photonic crystal with conical pore unit cells arranged in a square lattice is considered. To achieve this, we desgin and simulate 3 structures (a) PN Junction Simple Diode (b) 2DSPAD with step doping specifications and (c) 2D-SPAD with gaussian doping specifications. Successfully simulating and getting desired results of 2D-SPAD we finalize the use of this 2DSPAD architecture for designing of our final structure of silicon photonic crystal. |
