Abstract: The Augmented Reality (AR) Sandbox has demonstrated diverse applications in tangible user interfaces, spanning from interactive educational experiences for children to topography mapping for weather visualization. Notably, the Indian Army employs physical sand models for terrain visualization in briefings, operational planning, training exercises, and combat scenarios. This research project focuses on enhancing this interaction by addressing challenges such as lengthy setup times, labor-intensive sand sculpting, and limited visualization and simulation capabilities. The methodology includes a comprehensive literature review, requirements gathering, real-world user flow mapping, and the development of a rapid prototype as a proof of concept. The aim is to optimize the use of AR technology in military applications, particularly in the context of terrain visualization for planning and training purposes.
