Physically Based Volume Rendering involves solving the Radiative Transfer Equation (with the Rendering Equation as its boundary condition) in-silico to produce images that are indistinguishable from reality. Graphics hardware have improved many folds over the past two decades but the algorithms for this problem have not caught up. In this project we explore feasible solutions with high performance and image quality, primarily based on Volumetric Photon Mapping.en_US
