Abstract:
With a thorough literature study, challenges pertinent to this asynchronous collaboration were identified. Out of them, this work focuses on change awareness. Change awareness is defined as the knowledge that collaborator(s) posses of the developments that the shared virtual components in the workspace go through. Virtual recordings are predominantly used in asynchronous mode of collaboration for content creation in VR. The multi-modality and richness of the medium makes it a richer collaborative tool enabling better communication. Thus, existing work utilized virtual recordings for sharing developments with the collaborators. However, key issues were jarred sensations, confusion because of collaborators having to keep up with the pace of events, and or browse the recordings as per their own requirement. Thus, spatiotemporal navigation of these recordings that are played at the same scale, can become cumbersome for the collaborators. The goal of this work is to design techniques that can augment recordings to be a better collaborative tool. Most importantly, ease the process of identifying changes in the virtual environment and reduce discomfort previously associated with it.
