Abstract:
Millions of mobile apps are downloaded and used by users throughout the world. For many developers, these apps are the source of their income. Given that there is monetary aspect attached to applications, this gives rise to different fraudulent activities on the platforms. Google Playstore and Apple Appstore are some of the most popular platforms for mobile applications. In this project, we create our own dataset from scratch, for Google Playstore and Apple App- Store. We analyse this data, and check for fraudulent patterns. We then focus on one of the very common activities of fraud prominent on Google Playstore. We closely examine user and developer interaction with apps that incentivise users to downloads other apps.
