dc.description.abstract Mental illness is one of the growing concerns across the world. According to WHO, mental health patients are more likely to receive lower quality of health and social care. Many researchers have leveraged mobile technology for studying and building applications to treat mental illnesses. Most of these studies are limited to the patients and aims to aid a patient in self-management of their illness. These studies have not explored the role of a caregiver in the treatment of these patients. Saksham aims to follow a cooperative approach by close knitting the patients, caregivers and doctors, working together towards common goal of managing SMIs (Serious Mental Illnesses). In the previous implementation of Saksham application, there were 3 components: 2 mobile applications for caregiver and patient and 1 web application for doctors. There was a room for improvement in this implementation like reducing memory consumption in storage, adding server component to handle API calls to database, synchronization b/w applications and database, automating data fetching for web application. Usage of 3-tier architecture style and single database to keep all the components synchronized has been proposed. The proposed system is more efficient, agile, simple and fast as compared to the previous architecture. en_US
