Abstract:
The contemporary college landscape is characterized by an abundance of academic courses and diverse learning paths, posing a challenge for students to navigate and optimize their academic journey efficiently. Young adults in the midst of emerging adulthood are confronted with pivotal decisions in their career trajectories, encompassing post-secondary plans, career selections, and the pursuit of employment. Negotiating these choices can induce confusion and distress, possibly contributing to mental health challenges. This research project introduces a novel approach to address this challenge by developing a Course Recommender and Planner System. This research project aims to develop and implement a system that enhances the academic experience of students by providing personalized course recommendations and assisting in the creation of optimized schedule builders. The first step in developing a Course Recommender and Planner System is to conduct Human-computer interaction-based research among college students. This phase aims to explore and understand the user interface requirements, ensuring that the design of the system will align with user needs and preferences.
