dc.description.abstract Ethical Systems and Value-Based software products have been in talks for quite a few years, and much research and progress has been made in that direction. Recently, a lot of advancement has been made to ensure that the products and the systems developed are value-based. One of the major milestones in this area of research was the development of the IEEE 7000 standard that was aimed at providing steps which if followed, would ensure that the final product has values built into them. These two were the major reasons, that led to the creation of VBOE (Value Based Ontology Engineering) methodology. The entire goal is to leverage the great reasoning and representational capacities of ontologies and combine them with IEEE 7000 standard pro cedures, to eventually produce an ontology that is value-based w,r,t the domain being modelled into the ontology. VBOE methodology is an agile ontology engineering methodology that is iterative in nature and combines various phases of agile ontology development with the various steps of the Value-Based Engineering Standard. en_US
